Hi Folks,
Welcome to WHITEFISH POTTERY! I first became interested in working with
clay in 1982. I had been bitten by the "bug" while taking a short course
on how to throw pottery on the potter's wheel. Graduating from the
University of Wisconsin-Madison with a degree in Art Education, I spent
four years as a Jr. High School Art teacher making pottery in my spare
time. I decided to attend graduate school at Penn State University and
after receiving my Master of Fine Arts degree in ceramics in 1987,
returned to Wisconsin to continue teaching. Following another sabbatical
from teaching to work as a production potter in Ohio, I chose to leave
the teaching profession and in the summer of 1994 moved to Montana to
open Whitefish Pottery.
Whitefish Pottery also features one-of-a-kind pieces by the artists who
work there. The pieces intended for daily use are lead-free, dishwasher,
and oven safe. (We always recommend starting with a cool oven).
